Job Role & Competencies
Strong working knowledge of Amdocs CES Postpaid Billing System, especially Turbo Charging, Customer Billing Product (CBP) and related components.
Billing domain knowledge is a must, including Postpaid Billing, CDR flow, Rating and Discounting, Bill Generation, Payments & Collections, and Revenue Journaling.
Good understanding of Amdocs CES Billing configurations, including rating logic, charge offers, account hierarchies, and billing profiles.
Proficient in Amdocs CES operational tasks, including billing cycle execution, batch job monitoring, invoicing, and financial events handling.
Solid working knowledge of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) and change control processes in a telecom billing environment.
Experience in execution of recurring operational tasks, monitoring billing operations, and scheduling jobs (batch controls, billing runs, invoice generation).
Proactively seek to minimize production issues or improve billing batch job performance, including resolution of recurring incidents and batch cycle time optimizations.
Hands-on experience in Unix/Linux, with strong command-line scripting and SQL knowledge (preferably Oracle DB) to investigate and analyze issues.
Experience in incident and service request handling, including triage, troubleshooting, resolution, and documentation within SLA.
Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams (CRM, Ordering, Provisioning, Finance) and external vendors for issue resolution and change implementation.
Ensure timely resolution of business-impacting queries and escalations, maintaining SLA and minimizing customer impact.
Able to define and implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to ensure proactive management of billing processes and systems.
Perform problem management to drive permanent fixes and RCA for recurring production issues.
Execute preventive maintenance activities, such as system reboots, data validations, and proactive cleanups.
Conduct regular system health checks to ensure billing systems are functioning at optimal levels.
Actively support and contribute to Service Improvement Plans (SIP) to improve billing system performance, availability, and reliability.
Knowledge And Experience
Primary Skill:
Must have 4–8 years of hands-on experience in the Telecom Billing domain with a strong focus on Amdocs CES Billing systems.
Good knowledge of Amdocs CES Billing architecture and data model, particularly:
Proficiency in PL/SQL and Oracle:
Solid skills in Shell scripting on Unix/Linux platforms for job automation, monitoring, and batch operations
Experience with billing batch processes, billing job chains, and performance tuning
Familiarity with billing integration points (CRM, Mediation, OCS, Financial systems)
Exposure to troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and delivering permanent fixes
Experience working in Agile/Scrum or DevOps environments is a plus
Secondary Skill:
Knowledge of other scripting languages like Perl, Python, Java will be added benefit.
